This art piece is an example of beautiful interplay of form and material. Especially, the hand with a famous pipe goes beyond the frame, therefore, it is partly an alto relief with full-round elements. Moreover, emotionally strong 3-dimensional artworks, combining law and high relief techniques can hung on a wall. Classic depiction of the body in motion captures the attention immediately.

Even after the restriction on smoking, the creator of the theory of relativity couldn’t bear to give up the tactile experience of a pipe itself. Therefore, Einstein’s pipe has become the most popular object in the Modern Physics collection of the National Museum of American History.
