Please view artworks by Ilan Baruch presented in Kings gallery
Ilan Baruch is a contemporary Israeli artist. The painter mostly works in a figurative realistic style. Particularly, he is well-known for landscapes, the views of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria. His paintings are pastoral, but some of them involve an element of tension, as they are dedicated to Israeli settlements. In particular, he tries to express a complex reference to challenges of Israeli reality. Baruch was born in 1974 in an ultra-orthodox family in Jerusalem. His father, who especially loved art and classical music, encouraged Baruch as a child to paint.
“Olive Trees”
Although “Olive Trees” painting seems to be a peaceful landscape, it has the socio-historical context. If one looks closely, he can notice in the shade the person with a gun spying upon the shepherd. The painting shows the complexity of Israeli life. However, at the same time, Ilan Baruch admires the beautiful view. Furthermore, the clouds apear to replicate the form of olives’ crowns. Nature is conveyed increidbly gentle.
“Cactus”
The artist became famous due his “Cactus” series. Kings gallery is glad to offer one of these paintings: “Cactus”. Ilan Baruch has worked for three years on various depictions of the desert plants. He began with quite naturalistic and full images, however, eventually came to more expressive and cropped artworks. In our painting the giant cactus is an almost alive character. In 2004 the artist displayed “The Cactus:Introspections” series at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Baruch’s works have participated at many exhibitions.
