Please view details of “Euan Uglow” by Itzu Rimmer
Itzu Rimmer is an Israeli artist. He began his education in London, however, he fastly came back to Israel in order to enlist in the army for the Yom Kippur War of 1973. Itzu Rimmer graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and later taught at various institutions all over Israel. Rimmer’s art is full of references to variuos ritual objects and symbols. He tries to show culture through the language of myths and signs. The artist has participated in many international group exhibitions. Now he works and lives in Mitzpe Ramon. The artwork presented in Kings Gallery is devoted to Euan Uglow, a British painter.
Although Uglow has painted still life and landscapes, he is primarily an artist of the human figure. Itzu Rimmer has depicted the album with “Summer Picture” by Euan Uglow on the cover. As the painter John McLean wrote about Uglow’s art: “His observation is so exquisite each discrete plane, each color rings out, like a note in a finely delivered song”.
Rimmer in his still life uses the same colors as Uglow in his artwork except for vivid tints of the nectarine. Views of spetators stretch to the inside painting. Forms of objects on the table correspond with Uglow’s forms and shadows. Interestingly, Uglow desccribed: “I’m trying to paint a structured painting full of controlled, and therefore potent, emotion”. Rimmer’s still life coveys the exact mood, it is very precise.
