Please view details of “Ties” by Arman
Armand Pierre Fernandez, known as Arman, was born in Nice in 1928. He depicted and analyzed in the art the new consumer society. Nouveau Realisme was an artistic movement founded by art critic Pierre Restany and the painter Yves Klein. Arman signed “Constitutive Declaration of New Realism” among the first nine artists. The painters used directly objects from the world and rethought them. The art of presentation rather than representation especially interested Arman.
In particular,
The meaning of all everyday items is not limited to their use-value, they also have visible qualities, and, therefore, are the symbols. The work “Ties” is an example of the “language of quantity”. Arman accumulated similar objects and hence showed the new aesthetics of the newborn consumer civilization. Spectators can reveal the nature of the ties here, however, it is not a common case. Especially, accumulation gives a new way of perceiving shapes.
Interestingly, Arman participated in Andy Warhol’s film “Dinner at Daley’s”, a documentation of a dinner performance by the artist Daniel Spoerri filmed on March 5, 1964. Check our artworks by Andy Warhol. We offer beautiful “Flowers print” and “The souper dress”.
