“Rabbi” by Pinchas Litvinovsky

Please find details “Rabbi” by Pinchas Litvinovsky

In the late 1930s Pinchas Litvinovsky came to the multi-color palette, deep perspective and expressive figures on the abstract background (works of the 1940–50s were firstly exhibited at his solo exhibition in Jerusalem in 1960). Gradually Jewish motifs intensified in Litvinovsky’s art.

The look of the Rabbi is right through. Moreover, emotionally the color fields influence the perception a lot. Two eyes seem to be very different and almost opposite due to the slight change of brows and tints of the contours. The figure is very alive and sincere. The hand directs the thoughts and appears to continue the line of the glance. The style makes the work very open for personal feelings and interpretations. Wide brushstrokes convey the motion and the quickness of the impression.

Kings gallery

Kings gallery has an interesting collection of artworks by Pinchas Litvinovsky, as well as a blog about his art.

In particular, “The Four Sons” depicts four rabbis, artist managed to express their feelings, power, frangileness with only a few strokes. Also, please find a mysterious expressive painting “Jerusalem houses“, that showes a small courtyard. Beautiful portrait of “The Artist’s Wife” strikes in its honesty. Especially the glance of the woman is mesmerising and hypnotic. “Figures” are full of theatre references. Furthermore, it reminds of the preformaces and tales with complicated plots about kings, princesses and jesters. The work links several episodes, creating connections between them. It seems to be theatre sets. Additionally, we offer his tender artwork painted in emerald sheds depicting fairy heroines – “Pastoral Nudes“.
