“Seashells” by Dale Chihuly

Please find details of “Seashells” by Dale Chihuly

A unique work with glass is striking in its filigree. Dale Chihuly conveyed the natural beauty and miracle of seashells precisely. Particularly thin and transparent pieces have natural rhythm and fluidity. It seems that one can feel and hear the sea breeze if holds a sculpture to the face. All hidden in the the depth of the sea always fascinates with various forms, colors and contrasts. The artist described his passion to seaforms: “I love to go to the ocean and walk along the beach. If you work with hot glass and its natural properties, it begins to look like something that came from the sea.”

Furthermore,

For the exhibition at Monterey Bay Aquarium, Chihuly created a special installation full of different seaforms. Thus, the oversized, blown-glass pieces depicting creatures of the sea became one of his specialities. The famous glass artist always uses innovative techniques to achieve his artistic vision. Besides, the idea of Chihuly is to let molten glass find its shape in its own organic way. He never aimed to symmetry. The goal is to make “people to be overwhelmed with light and color in some way that they’ve never experienced.” Especially seashells amaze with a harmonious transition of tints.

Moreover,

Dale Chihuly is known for complex public exhibitions all over the world, including Venice, Jerusalem and many other places. Interestingly, in Venice he created a series of Chandeliers which he hung over canals and piazzas. In the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem he presented remarkable exhibition in 2000.
