“Portrait” by Anna Ticho

Please view details of “Portrait” by Anna Ticho

This sketch strikes with the accuracy and emotional impression. Ticho’s manner of using charcoal achieves great depth of tone. In particular, through combinations of differently intense strokes the artist manages to create rubbed-in intermediate shadows. Thinner and less expressive lines as well as flecks of dark accretions form the face and especially strengthen shadows of the nostrils and tight lips. The old woman is looking through with her only widely open eye. Her clothes combines separate parts, destroyed by the time.
