"Yarkon” by painter Shlomo Bernstein. Painted with light colors, sky and nature look pleasant. The couple passionately speaking and the man sailing near create the atmosphere of calm and tranquility. Born in Belarus in 1886, Bernstein studied at the famous Mir Yeshiva, only when he reached the age of 18, his father allowed him to learn the art. After World War I, he went to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where painter Leon Bonnat, who taught at the institution, helped him to receive a scholarship from Baron Rothschild. In 1914, the artist immigrated to Israel, but was exiled to Alexandria, where he made living giving lessons and painting portraits. In 1919, he returned to israel and presented a large solo exhibition at the Herzliya Gymnasium. He was one of the founders of the Hebrew Artists' Association. In 1924, Schlomo Bernstein participated in the significant "Tower of David Exhibition".
