“The Chavruta” by Ora Nissim
“Chavruta” by Israeli contemporary artist Ora Nissim. Using a combination of colorful stains and paints, the painter creates three figures enthusiastically studying Talmud. Chavruta is a traditional rabbinic approach to learn in a small group of students, who analyze and discuss a shared text. As the artist has described her art: she paints "Judaism today and in the future", not "Judaism of the past". Grown up in the Jerusalem neighborhood “Mea Shearim”, Ora Nissim depicts "feeling and movement, that are hidden behind that black clothing".
