Birkat Cohanim

“Birkat Cohanim” by Contemporary Israeli painter Ora Nissim. The colorful painting with the focus on the deep blue shows on the forefront Cohanim blessing Jewish people. The background is shown luminous, striving upward, almost flaming. Grown up in the Jerusalem neighborhood “Mea Shearim”, Nissim depicts "colorfulness, feeling, movement and joy, that are hidden" behind the strict appearance of the Orthodox. As the artist has described her art: she paints "Judaism today and in the future", not "Judaism of the past". Ora Nisim shows living Jerusalem in the motion. Using a combination of stains and paints, she creates captivating compositions.
