Tree Sketch on a Homage Book
Tree Sketch on a Homage Book by its author early modernist Marc Chagall. Famous Russian-French- Jewish artist, who created a unique memorable style. As Cogniat wrote, the constant element of Chagall's art is "his gift for happiness and his insitinctive compassion, which even in the serious subjects prevents him from dramatization". The magic image of Vitebsk (the city he lived) with loving couple flying above small colorful houses, acrobats and clowns, religious paintings attract and capture the viewer's attention. Chagall's subject is life itself, in "its simplicity or its hidden complexity". He blended the real with fantastic. His artistic language was a combination of Fauvism, Symbolism, Cubism with his own folkish style.
