“Girl in a White Dress” by Zvi Malnovitzer
Zvi Malnovitzer is an expressionist Israeli artist. "Girl in a White Dress" is a very tender painting, that depicts a fleeting glance of the young lady. Her pose, with hands put together and the slightly turned head, makes the picture alive. White color emphasises the purity. The girl looks distant, flying in dreams. Inspired by the prolific portraits of Rembrandt and the Romanticism of Goya, the style of Zvi Malnovitzer is a unique combination of European Expressionism with traditional and religious themes. Born to a ultra-Orthodox religious family in Bnei Brak, he decided to dedicate his art to Haredi Judaism, Holocaust and Exile and scenes from daily life of religious people.
