Nicholas Ivanovich Vasilieff (Nikolai Ivanovich Vasilev) was born in Moscow region in 1887 (1892). Studied at K. Yuon and I. Dubin’s studio-school in Moscow in early 1900; Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1906-1909. Active in Moscow until 1919; Istanbul from 1919; Germany and France in 1922. Immigrated to the USA in 1923. Important shows include ‘First Russian Art Exhibition’, Berlin, 1922. Taught at Moscow Free Art Studios in 1918-1919. Died in Massachusetts, USA in 1970.
